The Detailed Master Plan of Kampong Bharu Development 2020

The Kampong Bharu Development Corporation (PKB) is currently in the process of studying the Detailed Master Plan of Kampong Bharu 2020 (PITPKB2020).

The aim of this study is to provide a detailed plan for a complete perspective, procedures and methods to manage and implement the development of Kampong Bharu through the provision of two key components namely:

Physical Plan; and

Development Management Plan of Kampong Bharu Beyond 2020.

The objectives of this study are as follows:

6.1 To know the expectations of the local community about the forms of benefit that they will receive from the proposed redevelopment,

6.2 To get suggestions from the local community to improve the proposed redevelopment;

6.3 To identify and strenghthen the method of development that will be adopted in redeveloping Kampong Bharu;

6.4 To identify areas that need to be prioritised for development based on feed back/consent from landowners; and

6.5 To identify the physical layout and design of the proposed development that will be implemented based on the specified development phase.

The study period for PITPKB 2020 preparation is expected to be eight (8) months and it has started in August 2013 and is expected to be finalised for final review by the public in March 2014. There are four (4) stages to be implemented in the preparation of PITPKB 2020 as follows:

  • Stage 1: Preparation of Preliminary Report;
  • Stage 2: Preparation of Report of Findings;
  • Stage 3: Preparation of PITPKB Draft
  • Stage 4: Preparation of PITPKB 2020.

During the period of this study, some dialogues, interviews, investigations (questionaires), discussions and specific methods will be conducted to gather opinions and comments of landowners, inheritors and other stakeholders to ensure that the preparation of this plan is comprehensive in nature and can be implemented perfectly later.

In line with that, the PKB through the appointment process specified by government procedures has appointed Arkitek Jururancang Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. as the consultant that will conduct the overall study on the preparation of PITPKB 2020.
